BLESSED Thomas BENSTEAD
BLESSED Thomas BENSTEAD (alias
HUNT) was born in Norfolk, England. He was seminarian in the College of St.
Alban in VALLADOLID and later at the English College of St. Gregory in Seville,
where he was ordained a priest the year 1599. Upon returning to England, they
incarcerated him, but he escaped. Later, he was condemned for being a priest; he
was stripped, drawn, hung and quartered in the July of 1600, at Lincoln.
Pope John Paul II beatified him, on the 22nd of November 1987.
